Overview
--------

An XML sitemap is a list of every page on your site, kept up to date automatically, that helps search engines find and index your content.

> **⚠️ Important:** This is an administrator's job. Content editors have no access to these screens.

---

Checking sitemap status
-----------------------

1. In the admin menu, open **Configuration**, then **Search and metadata**, then **Simple XML Sitemap**.
2. The **Sitemaps** tab opens on **Status**, showing each sitemap, how much of it has been generated, and its link count.

> **💡 Note:** Sitemaps regenerate automatically on a schedule. If a recent change is missing, it will appear once that next run completes rather than immediately.

---

Choosing what's included
------------------------

The **Inclusion** tab controls which kinds of content appear in the sitemap at all, by content type.

1. On the same **Simple XML Sitemap** screen, switch from **Sitemaps** to **Inclusion** in the top row of tabs. It opens on **Entities**.
2. Find the **Content** row. It lists the content types already included: Article, Event and Landing page.
3. Press **Configure** on that row. Each content type has its own tab, where you choose whether it is indexed in the **Default** sitemap and set its **Priority**.
4. Save.

A single page can also be set to skip the sitemap on its own, overriding the content type default. This lives in the **Simple XML Sitemap** section of that page's own edit screen, alongside a priority value used to hint at how important that page is relative to others.
