   Overview
--------

Sections are the primary structural containers in Layout Builder. They define how content is laid out on a page, whether in a single column, multiple columns, or other arrangements. You can add as many sections as you need, anywhere on the page.

Adding a section
----------------

Before adding content blocks, you need to set up a section to define the layout. To add a section:

1. In the Layout Builder, click the **Add section** button.
2. Click the layout you would like to use (e.g. Single Column, Two Column).
3. Enter a **label name** for the section.
4. Select a **layout theme** — this sets the background colour of the section:
    - **Default** — no background colour
    - **Primary** — coloured background
    - **Secondary** — light grey background
5. Select a **padding** option to control spacing around the section's content.
6. Click **Add section** to confirm.

> **💡 Note:** Section theming options and padding settings may vary by site. For advanced section configuration, refer to your user guide documentation.
