   Overview
--------

Content types allow site administrators to define and manage the structure and characteristics of different types of content that can be created on the website. This ensures that each type of content has specific fields and settings tailored to its purpose.

Basically, they serve as templates for creating various content elements, such as events, news articles, and venues.

How content types work
----------------------

Each content type comes with its own set of fields and configuration, designed to match the kind of information that type of content needs to capture. When you create a new piece of content, you first select a content type, and District will then present you with the right fields for that content.

Content types vary by site
--------------------------

The specific content types available to you will depend on your site's configuration. While some types are common across all District sites, others are added to meet specific site requirements.

> **💡 Note:** For the content types available on your specific site, refer to your "User Guide" documentation.
