Overview
--------

Three parts of your site are not on any one page. They are blocks: pieces of content you edit once, in one place, that the site shows wherever they belong.

Block

Where it appears

Homepage Hero

The large banner at the top of the homepage, and nowhere else.

Site alert

A strip across the top of every page, for time-sensitive notices.

Acknowledgement of Country

The band at the top of the footer, on every page.

---

Finding the blocks
------------------

1. Press **Blocks** in the sidebar. The **Content blocks** screen lists every block, with its type and when it was last changed.
2. Press **Edit** on the block you want.
3. Make your changes and press **Save**. The change shows on the site straight away.

---

The homepage hero
-----------------

Above the tabs sit **Admin label**, which only names the block in the list, and **Layout**. The rest is split into three tabs:

Tab

What you set there

Content

A short Label, the Heading and a Lead paragraph, and Show site search, which adds the search box.

Links

Up to two Buttons, the first being the main one, and Popular tasks, shown as small links beneath the buttons.

Media

An Image, and a Stat headline with its Stat caption: a single figure shown over the image.

The **Layout** decides what shows. Split and Feature show the image and its stat; Centered and Minimal show neither, so the image and stat are ignored in those two.

> **💡 Note:** Visitors never see the Admin label. The heading they read is the one in **Heading** on the Content tab.

---

The site alert
--------------

Use the site alert for something every visitor should see right now: a closure, an outage, a consultation closing soon. It sits above the site header on every page until you take it down.

Above the tabs sit the **Title**, and **Display title** to show it above the message. Below them is **Published**, which you untick to take the alert down. In between are three tabs:

Tab

What you set there

Content

The Type: Info, Update or Emergency. Then the Message itself.

Scheduling

A Start date and End date, so the alert appears and disappears by itself. Leave them empty to show it straight away and until you take it down.

Display

Dismissible, which lets visitors close it, and Page visibility, which limits it to certain addresses.

### Adding a new alert

1. On the **Content blocks** screen, press **Add content block** and choose **Site alert**.
2. Fill in the Title, Type and Message, and set the dates if it should come and go by itself.
3. Press **Save**. A published alert appears on the site without being placed anywhere.

> **💡 Note:** A visitor who closes a dismissible alert will not see it again, unless you edit it. Editing an alert shows it again to everyone, so use that when the news changes.

The Acknowledgement of Country
------------------------------

The acknowledgement sits at the top of the footer on every page.

- **Acknowledgement** holds the wording. The supplied text is a national starting point: replace it with wording that reflects your own organisation and the Country it is on.
- **Flags** chooses whether the Aboriginal flag, the Torres Strait Islander flag, both or neither appear beside it.
