Overview
--------

The homepage is not a special kind of page. It is an ordinary landing page, titled Homepage, that the site has been told to show at its main address. You build and edit it like any other landing page.

Two parts of the homepage are edited in different places:

Choosing a different page as the homepage
-----------------------------------------

> **⚠️ Important:** Changing which page is the homepage is an administrator's job, not an editor's. It sits in the site's configuration, which content editors cannot reach. Building the page itself is ordinary editing work that anyone can do.

1. Create and publish the page first, and note its address. See [**Landing pages**](/articles/landing-pages).
2. Go to **Configuration**, then **System**, then **Basic site settings**.
3. Under **Front page**, enter the page's address in **Default front page**, starting with a slash, for example /home.
4. Press **Save configuration**.

> **💡 Note:** The field takes an address, not a page picker. Copy the address from the page's own URL alias setting, or from the address bar after your site name.
