1. In the menu, click the **Content** icon. This takes you to the content management page, where you can view existing content or create something new.
2. Click the **Add Content** button at the top of the page. You'll see the available content types on your site. Choose the one that suits what you're creating. For a full overview of content types, see **\[Understanding content types\]**.
3. You'll be taken to the content creation form for the content type you selected. Fill in the required fields, such as the title, body text, and any other relevant information. The fields available will vary depending on the content type. For fields that use a rich text editor, see **\[Using the WYSIWYG editor\]**.
4. For most content types, you can customise the **Main Content** area by adding site components. See **\[Site components overview\]** to learn what's available.
5. On the right-hand side, find **Menu settings** to control whether this content appears in the site navigation. Tick the **Provide a menu link** box, enter a menu link title, and select a parent item from the dropdown if it should sit under an existing menu item.
6. In the **URL alias** section, you can set a custom URL for the page. By default, District generates a URL based on the title, but you can customise it to make it cleaner or more search-friendly.
7. To configure meta tags (such as the meta title and meta description), go to the **Meta tags** section in the right-hand sidebar. See **\[SEO and meta tag configuration\]** for guidance.
8. To configure how this content appears in the sitemap, use the **Simple XML Sitemap** section in the right-hand sidebar. See **\[Configure XML sitemaps\]** for more detail.
9. To preview how the page will look to visitors before saving, click the **Preview** button.
10. When you're ready, click **Save**.

> **ℹ️ Info:** Depending on your user role, newly saved content may be saved as a draft rather than published immediately. See **\[Content workflow and statuses\]** for more information.
