   Overview
--------

Content moderation notifications are email notifications sent to users when content transitions from one moderation status to another. For example, when content is submitted for approval, the relevant approvers are automatically notified by email that their action is required.

How it works
------------

When a piece of content moves from one workflow state to another (for example, from Draft to In Review), District automatically sends an email notification to the relevant users. Notifications are sent to each user's registered email address, keeping everyone up to date on content status without needing to manually check the system.

For more on how content workflows and statuses work, see **Content workflow and statuses**.

Types of notifications
----------------------

Notifications can be triggered for a range of workflow transitions. Common examples include:

- **Ready for review:** When content you need to review has been submitted.
- **Content published:** When content you created or are tracking has been made live.
- **Content rejected:** When content has been sent back for changes.
- **Scheduled publication:** When content is scheduled to go live at a future date. See **Scheduled content transitions** for more.

> **💡 Note:** The notification types available on your site depend on how your workflows are configured. Check with your site administrator or refer to your user guide documentation for the specific rules on your site.

Managing your notifications
---------------------------

Notification preferences can be managed through your user account settings, allowing you to control which notifications you receive.
