   Overview
--------

Every time you save a piece of content in District, a new revision is created. This gives you a complete history of all changes so you can review, compare, and revert to a previous version whenever needed.

Revisions are useful for:

- Tracking what changes have been made over time, and by whom.
- Restoring a previous version if a change was made in error.
- Comparing two versions side-by-side to see exactly what was added, changed, or removed.

Viewing and comparing revisions
-------------------------------

1. In the administration menu, click the **Content** icon.
2. Find the content you want to review and click on its title.
3. Click the **Revision information** tab on the content page. This shows a list of all previous revisions, including the date, time, and author of each change.
4. To compare two revisions, select the versions you want to compare and click **Compare selected revisions** at the bottom of the screen.
5. The comparison page will display the differences between the selected versions, with changes highlighted.

Restoring a previous revision
-----------------------------

![](/storage/omw7sktMFA5r0yI5qCvsPh6Qyo3Muiw9sWeF9K64.png)

1. From the **Revision information** list, locate the version you want to restore.
2. Click the **Revert** link next to that revision.
3. Confirm the revert action in the pop-up by clicking **Revert**. The content will be restored to the selected revision.
4. To publish the reverted content, find the **Publishing options** section and update the status as needed.
5. Scroll down and click **Save** to apply your changes.

> **⚠️ Note:** When restoring a revision, the content returns to its original state, including its moderation status.
>
> For example, restoring a revision that was in "Needs Review" will set the content back to "Needs Review". Make sure to check and update the status after reverting if needed.

> **💡 Note:** Reverting does not delete any revision history. The version you reverted *from* will still appear in the list, so you can always go back to it if needed.
