Overview
--------

Form submissions often hold names, addresses and phone numbers. Rather than clearing them by hand, a form can delete them by itself once they reach a certain age.

> **⚠️ Important:** This is set per form, and it is administrator work. Purged submissions are gone for good, with no trash to restore them from.

Setting it up
-------------

1. Go to **Structure**, then **Webforms**, and open the form.
2. Choose **Settings**, then the **Submissions** sub-tab.
3. Open **Submission purge settings** and choose what **Automatically purge** removes: **Draft**, **Completed** or **Draft and completed**.
4. Set **Days to retain submissions**.
5. Press **Save**.

> **💡 Note:** Agree the number of days with whoever looks after your records first, and download anything you must keep before it is purged. See [**Reading and exporting form submissions**](/articles/reading-and-exporting-form-submissions).
