   Overview
--------

Blocks are the individual content pieces that sit inside sections in the Layout Builder. You can add new blocks, rearrange them, move them between sections, or remove them. For more on sections, see **Working with sections in Layout Builder**.

Adding a block

You can add blocks to the main content area or to any section on the page.

2. In the sidebar that appears, click on the block or reusable block you want to add.
3. If you want to display a title above the block, enter the title text in the **Title** field and enable the **Display title** option. Otherwise, disable it.

Rearranging blocks
------------------

You can reorder blocks within a section using drag and drop.

1. In the Layout Builder, click and drag the block to the desired position.
2. Click **Save layout** to apply your changes.

Moving blocks between sections
------------------------------

If your page has multiple sections, you can move a block from one section to another.

1. In the Layout Builder, locate the block you want to move.
2. Click the **Edit** menu for that block.
3. Select **Move**.
4. Choose the destination section from the dropdown.
5. Click **Save layout** to apply your changes.

Removing a block
----------------

1. In the Layout Builder, hover over the block you want to remove.
2. Click the **pencil** icon that appears on the block.
3. Click **Remove block**, then click **Remove** in the sidebar to confirm.
4. Click **Save layout** to apply your changes.

Adding existing content to the layout
-------------------------------------

Sometimes content exists on a page but isn't displaying because it hasn't been added to the layout structure yet.

1. **Identify missing content** — Check the page to confirm the content exists but isn't showing. If so, it needs to be added to the layout.
2. **Insert into layout** — In the Layout Builder, click **Add block** in the relevant section. In the sidebar, scroll to find the content component. Configure the display options (Display Title, Display Mode), then click **Add block**.
3. **Position content** — Use drag and drop to reorder the block within the section to match your design.
4. Click **Save layout** to apply your changes.

Saving layout changes
---------------------

> **⚠️ Important:** Always click **Save layout** after making changes. Unsaved changes will not appear on the published page and will be lost if you navigate away.

Previewing your layout
----------------------

To see how content fits within the page while you're working, enable the **Show content preview** option in the Layout Builder. This gives you a live view of how the page will appear to visitors.

Restoring the default layout
----------------------------

To discard all layout changes and restore the page to its default layout, click the **Revert to defaults** button in the Layout Builder.

> **⚠️ Note:** Reverting to defaults will permanently discard all changes you've made to the layout. This cannot be undone.
